Norfolkline to reduce sailings on North Sea – Felixstowe route
Press release - November 6th 2008
Norfolkline today announces its intention to reduce sailings on its North Sea - Felixstowe Route in order to rationalise the service in view of the current economic climate and market conditions.
With effect from 14th November, 2008 the Friday 23:59 sailing from Vlaardingen to Felixstowe, and the corresponding Friday 23:59 sailing from Felixstowe to Vlaardingen will be withdrawn.
In the summer of 2008, Norfolkline withdrew one of the North Sea weekend sailings in each direction. In the current climate, it is possible that a further sailing at the weekend may also be withdrawn. Should this be proven necessary, Norfolkline will allow a daily sailing in each direction over Saturday and Sunday instead of the original twice daily service over the same period.
When the market trends change, the sailing schedule will be reviewed so as to ensure that the capacity is always offered to the market at large at the right price.
Kell Robdrup, Managing Director of Norfolkline, Ferry Division, says that it might be necessary to reduce tonnage on the North Sea and other routes even further, should the current situation not improve in 2009.
Norfolkline remains committed to provide cost effective first class service for all of its customers and believes that the above measures will ensure that this remains the case.
