Norfolkline Irish Sea Ferries completes purchase of Maersk Exporter
Belfast, April 30th, 2009
Norfolkline Irish Sea has completed the purchase of the Maersk Exporter, which entered service on the Belfast – Heysham route in March 2009.
The purchase of the Maersk Exporter, which is the first of three new arrivals due to join the Irish Sea fleet on the Heysham routes, is the initial phase of the plan to transfer three large ro/ro vessels from the North Sea by September 2009.
Poul Woodall, Route Director states:
“The Maersk Exporter is bigger, faster and better than the vessel she has replaced and has brought a new standard of excellence to the route.
Since her introduction to Heysham she has performed exceptionally with more than 98% of arrivals on time, and has been very well received by our customers. She offers improved scheduling and has superb on board facilities for freight drivers.
This purchase of Maersk Exporter, in addition to the purchase of two more vessels in the coming months, is a further demonstration of our commitment to the Heysham routes.”
